Oral Presentation

Oral presenters will be given the opportunity of a 10-minute Oral Presentation and are asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of 10 slides for this presentation (not including title, author and disclosure slides).

Presenting authors must comply with the following guidelines: 

  • The presenting author must control all content. Commercial interests may not influence scientific content by requiring the use of company slide decks or other materials. Scientific data generated by industry-sponsored research is permissible. 
  • The content of educational activities must be well-balanced, evidence-based, and unbiased. Generic names should be used to the extent possible. 
  • Slides, abstracts, and handouts cannot contain advertising, QR codes, corporate logos, trade names, or product-group messages of an ACCME-defined ineligible company. 
  • Acknowledgments at the close of presentations should be limited to non-commercial entities, e.g., education or research institutions, foundations, patients, other faculty or researchers, and should not include the names of ACCME-defined ineligible companies. 

Each presentation MUST include a financial disclosure slide

Please proofread the title of your abstract and the names of the authors. This is how your information will appear in the Abstract Book (JTO supplement) and on the Conference website prior to IASLC 2022 WCLC. General Information and Presentation Information

  • Oral Presentation is limited to 10 minutes (8min + 2min questions and answer period). 
  • After a set of 4 related abstract presentations, a discussant will provide a brief presentation, commenting on the strengths and weaknesses of the research studies and placing it in the context of other research/knowledge in the relevant area. 
  • In order for the discussant to prepare his/her presentation, the oral presenter must submit the presentation slides no later than July 5, 2022, via the online submission system (This date will not be extended. The submission link will be provided to the presenting author by end of June 2022). 
  • All session room screens will be in 16:9 format  
  • Please be in the room for your session 10 minutes before the start time of the session. The Session Chairs will start and end strictly on time.  

Presentation Preparation

  • PowerPoint presentations should have a maximum of 10 slides(not including title, author, and disclosure slides)
    • Each presentation MUST include a financial disclosure slide
    • Presenters are strongly encouraged to use the IASLC 2022 WCLC presentation slide template: Download Template
  • PowerPoint Best Practices:
    • Technical:
      • Your presentation must be prepared in PowerPoint2000 or any later PowerPoint Version (MS Windows)
      • Set the slide size of the page to “On-screen show” and landscape orientation in the page set-up section. (Portrait orientation will not be displayed properly)
    • Formatting:
      • Use high-contrast lettering, and not too much text per page (max. 5-10 lines or 15-20 words).
      • Font sizes should be no smaller than size 14 or 16 for maximum visibility.
      • Make sure you use high-contrast colors for the best definition of your text. Please be aware that red letters or lines are usually not visible.
      • Avoid special characters: To avoid any compatibility problems, please do not use special characters (i.e. “, Ö, Ø, ñ, ?, ®, ý, }, { etc) to name your presentation files
    • Content and Organization:
      • As a general rule, you should not present more than 1 slide per minute.
      • Do not read the slides word for word. Visual material provides cues and images to support your verbal presentation.
      • Make sure your presentation has a clear flow from introduction to conclusion. Identify key points and why they are important.
      • Include take-home points. Consider which 2-3 points you want the audience to remember after your presentation.
      • The inclusion of a disclosure slide is mandatory even if you have no conflicts to declare.
      • Less is more! Include relevant information on your slides, supplemented and explained by your verbal presentation.

Mini Oral Presentation

Mini oral presenters will be given the opportunity of a 5-minute Mini Oral Presentation and are asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with a maximum of 5 slides for this presentation (not including title, author and disclosure slide).

Presenting authors must comply with the following guidelines: 

  • The presenting author must control all content. Commercial interests may not influence scientific content by requiring the use of company slide decks or other materials. Scientific data generated by industry-sponsored research is permissible.

Poster Printing Guidelines

Poster Presenters are asked to prepare and print their poster(s) for display at the conference. It is important to set up your slide to a size that is proportional to the printed size of the poster. In PowerPoint, go to Page Setup and select Custom. Fill in the proper width and height.  

  • The maximum poster size is: 1900mm (wide) x 1040mm (high) - landscape format. 
  • One slide only, please! Create your poster from a single PowerPoint slide.  
  • Fonts – Choose two fonts at most, nothing cursive. Stick to sans-serif fonts for legibility: Arial and Helvetica are recommended. If you wish to use a serif font, we recommend Times New Roman (Windows) or Times (Macintosh). 
  • Excel Charts – You can paste Excel charts into PowerPoint: from Excel, select your chart and Copy, then in PowerPoint, Paste the chart where you want it to appear. For detailed instructions see Microsoft Office Support. 
  • Word Text – Insert a text box into your PowerPoint slides, copy the text from your Word document and paste it into the textbox in your slide. 
  • Image Files – To add image file, select “Insert”>”Picture”. Images should be good quality and appear clear and sharp on your screen. Since they will be enlarged for printing, we recommend that images are set to a resolution of 300 dpi. 
  • Backgrounds – For legibility and viewing ease, we suggest that you keep your backgrounds simple and avoid using dark colors. 
  • Poster Number – Please note that your poster number will be different than your ABSTRACT ID number. Your poster number will be communicated to you closer to the conference. This number will be displayed on your poster board, please affix your poster under your number displayed. 
  • Double sided cohesive tapes will be provided in the Exhibit Hall to set-up posters. 

Poster Electronic File

IASLC would like all poster presenters to submit an electronic file of their poster to be included in the IASLC virtual library. The electronic file should be submitted in addition to having a printed poster presented at the Conference. Your poster electronic file should be PowerPoint (PPT) or Adobe (PDF) file format.  

  • Prepare a one (1) slide, 16:9 PowerPoint presentation (PPT) for your E-Poster to be displayed during the conference.  
  • Submit your presentation by July 27, 2022 (the submission link will be provided to the presenting author in July). 

Poster Setup and Takedown

All Poster Presenters are to display their posters from August 7 – 9. The Presenter may choose to present on all days but please note that it is mandatory for the Presenter to present their poster(s) on the assigned Poster Viewing Session. Any posters not removed by the end of Poster Takedown time will be discarded by management.

Check Schedule Conflict

If you have a scheduling conflict with another presentation, we strongly encourage you to ask one of your co-authors to stand by your poster during the Poster Viewing times noted below to informally answer questions from Conference delegates. Please carefully check the schedule of all your presentations and contact wclc2022-abstracts at icsevents.com if you wish to change the presenting author and/or abstract title.

Mandatory Poster Display and Session Attendance

Poster Presenters must place their poster(s) and be present during their assigned Poster Viewing session. Presenting authors who do not comply may be at risk of having their abstract(s) rejected at future WCLC conferences. 

E-Poster Presentation

E-Posters will be displayed on all days of the Conference at the exhibition hall and the Virtual Platform. There will be a number of screens accessible during the viewing session for delegates to be able to choose to view their poster of choice via a search/menu selector to bring up a poster on demand. You do not have to be present to present your E-Poster. All enquiries will be directed to you on the virtual platform via the networking chat function.

Poster Guidelines

  • Prepare a one (1) slide, 16:9 PowerPoint presentation (PPT) for your Poster to be displayed during the conference.

Invited Speakers and Discussants

The duration of your presentation was provided in your invitation letter. If you are unsure of the length of your presentation, please contact wclc2022-speakers at icsevents.com. A link to upload your presentation slides will be sent to you by June.
